High in the Sky: A Mini Style Shoot

This week, my husband and I have decided to steal away to one of our favourite places in the world: the west coast. The mountains have a very special place in our hearts, mainly because we got married in the Whistler Mountains, next to a private lake on a golf course with 40 of our close family and friends, almost 8 years ago.

On our 5-year anniversary, we had decided to drive cross country, from Toronto to Vancouver and back again, for a dinner back at our wedding venue at the Four Seasons Whistler, where they recreated our wedding menu for us.

But obviously, as a wedding designer, I couldn’t really stop there. I really wanted to showcase the simplicity and beauty of this delicious morsel of the world! So the husband and I grabbed some flowers from a local floral market in Vancouver and created a mini-shoot, with the help of the ever talented Leah from Leah Kathryn Photography (which, by the way, I would have hired way back when we actually got married if I had the chance!).

This may not have been a full-fledged style shoot with all the table settings and large arrangements, but it really tipped our hat to what a mountain wedding is all about - letting nature really take its course. I’d love to help you plan an elopement, anniversary or small wedding here one of these days!

And to the rest of the vendor team:

The Flour Pot for the DELICIOUS salted caramel anniversary cake featured in this shoot, even though I did accidentally melt the leftovers the next day (much to my huge disappointment). I guess we’ll have to return again in 2 years for our 10 year anniversary and get it again.

Event Rental Works in Pemberton for the furniture rentals and barrel - I will be renting again for sure, when I come back to plan/execute another wedding.

Coralie Beatrix for my dress, the same vendor that provided my bridesmaids dresses so many years ago.

I can’t wait to go back!

Kimberly
