Falling for Fall Trends

It's hard to believe the summer wedding season is over and we are already nearing one month into autumn. If I were asked what my favourite season is, it would be a toss up between summer and fall, but if I were asked what my favourite wedding season is, hands down it would be fall. I absolutely love the range of colours, cool air and the naturally beautiful backdrops this season offers. Here are some fall trends that you can incorporate into your special day and some great reasons why fall weddings is a brilliant season to say i do.

Fall Florals

There is a strong emphasis on grouping flowers and foliage loosely together. Deep jewel toned colours are popular and considered to be in the lush and vibrant category. Cascading bridal bouquets with seeded eucalyptus, wine colored dahlias and hawthorn berries is one of the trendier choices. Another top trend for florals is in the centerpieces. Arrangements show pops of colour through fresh berries and shades of leafy greens. Adding succulents, eucalyptus, wheat greens on tabletops are suitable favourites. Hanging garlands at the altar are yet another trend.

Fall Fashion

Top designers have given brides various looks for this fall. Spanish influenced gowns from Marchesa and Alvina Valenta are adorned with chantilly lace, tiered necklines and beaded pearls. 3D florals are a fall favourite to look out for as well. Designers like Monique Lhuillier and Naeem Khan have added long sleeves and embroidered petal details.

Now that the weather is cooler this is the perfect time to accessorize your look. Faux fur shrugs, cashmere cardigans and luxurious scarves are the perfect accessory for the bride and her bridesmaid to wrap up in. Let’s not forget the men. Guys can wear tweed jackets to keep warm and a well groomed beard for that lumberjack look. Embroidered personalized monogrammed suits and bowties are a trendy option too.

Fall Food

Trends in food and drinks for the fall are reflective more of the couples personality. Childhood favourites or old family recipes served as main courses are a favourable choice for to the bride and groom. In the end it is all about comfort food and what the married couple enjoy the most. Food stations are are a must have for any fall wedding reception. Gourmet coffee stands with baristas, “build your own” bars, donut walls, and naked cakes are a few of the popular picks. Craft cocktails are a twist to the signature drink trend and is essentially two custom mixed cocktails that show the bride and groom’s tastes.

Autumn weddings are a season to consider when choosing what time of year you would like to be married in. You will definitely be cutting the cost as spring and summer still seem to be the most popular season for couples. Venue prices may be cheaper, you are most likely able to get the date you want as the availability of vendors and guests are more open. Photographers may agree that fall temperatures are sometimes more enjoyable and outdoor photos will be colorful and warm thanks to the tones of fall .

No matter what season you choose to get married in, there will always be new trends to follow and ones that will make come backs.

But personally I have fallen for this years fall trends! Hope you will too!
