Friendor Fridays: Brent Miller Live

After many years in this wonderful yet crazy industry we have had the opportunity to work with some amazing vendors. If there is one thing better than a professional vendor, it would have to be a great friendor (Vendor & Friend) !

Our clients always ask “do you have a preferred vendors list?”, “what makes them preferred?”, “ what do they have to offer?”. We reached out to our friends and interviewed them just for you!

Find out how long they have been in business, some advice/tips, and who they are through our “Friendors Blog Series”.

Here's our sit down with Brent!

How long have you been in business?

We began our wedding focused Brent Miller LIVE company in 2014, having performed as a group for many years before that, me personally starting my musical path as a bright-eyed 5 year old on a piano bench.

What made you choose this career path?

It is one of those classic stories where I'm pretty sure this career chose me! Even through University lectures I found myself writing set-lists in my page margins for the upcoming weekend's shows. I moved to Toronto 10 years ago to follow my musical path, meeting my wife Sarah here doing the same thing. After having performed together in a group for a few years we found our wedding business building on its own and were having so much fun we jumped into it full-time and whole heatedly.

Do you have any laughs or stories to share of your experience working with Kim and her team?

Too many laughs to count! Just recently while performing at their office grand opening party and taking song requests I connected with a few members of the team on old Nintendo music. We had such a "Super"TM time going through old 8Bit and 16Bit Mario Bros. classic tunes that it led to me writing a blog about that very subject :)

What's your favourite part of being in the wedding industry?

Heightened reality. I love being a part of humongous moments. The thrill of performance, bringing creative ideas to life that live on through lasting memories.

(We also like cake)

What is the best memory of your career to date?

The best memory of my music career is that fateful day in 2010 when I "auditioned" our bass player, my now wife, Sarah.

What advice do you have for a couple when they begin planning and looking into your services/field of expertise?

My best advice is to follow what gets you most excited! Our success has been built by being versatile and playing the music that you love the most. There is sometimes a pressure to choose music that seems to "fit" a modern wedding rather than choosing your true favourites. Following your heart with your music choices is always the best way to create the fun & unique experience you deserve.

Name your top 3 favorite songs to perform?

***This changes by the week!*** :)

Can't Help Falling In Love With You - Elvis Presley
